Now Specializing in Forensic Home Inspections

I am no longer providing day-to-day home inspections.

After some 6000 home inspections, spanning a 25 year career, I am now exclusively perfoming forensic inspections and providing expert witness services.

Here are some examples of the type of services I now provide:

  1. Inspections and reports for owners of new construction who are having a dispute with their builder
  2.  Advice and expert witness testimony to attorneys in defective construction cases
  3. Advice and expert witness testimony in legal cases involving defects discovered after the sale.
  4. Advice and expert witness testimony for professional home inspectors involved in litigation
  5. Advice and expert witness testimony for clients of substandard home inspection services

Home Inspections

I’ve inspected homes for thousands of satisfied clients throughout Ohio since 1985.  A pioneer of ASHI (American Society of Home Inspectors): the first Certified Member in the area, elected by my peers to serve on the Council of Representatives and the International Board of Directors.

My reputation is built on quality whole house inspections and unparalleled personal service to my clients.  Over the years, I’ve honed my 42-page inspection report to cover every detail of interest to my clients, including a wealth of homeowner information they find useful throughout the ownership of their home.  Many of my clients tell me they find this information extremely valuable.  I’ve inspected homes for the same people over and over as they move up to new accommodations.  They refer me to their friends and relatives.  In fact, word-of-mouth referrals are my main source of business.   I also include phone consultation on any aspect of the home for as long as you own it, at no additional charge.  I’m proud of my reputation for helping people understand the houses they buy.  And when major problems are found, I provide advice on repairs that may be the responsibility of the seller.

When you hire a home inspector you are paying for the qualifications and experience of the person doing your inspection AND for their ability to explain what they find to you.  I invite you to attend the inspection so I can point out what I find and explain it one-on-one.  My report is based on over 30 years of experience in the construction industry, over 15 years in the inspection profession and a Master’s degree in Business focused on communication and management.

My commitment to my clients: You get everything you expect from other professional home inspectors PLUS a more thorough understanding of the home you are buying and free telephone consultation for as long as you own the home.

My credentials have been accepted by Ohio courts where I serve as expert witness in cases involving construction disputes.  If you are considering legal action against a seller or builder, I can help you determine the strength of your case.
